Riverside Park

This park is perfect for family reunions and get-togethers. Many people visit the park for baseball games, celebrations, and the annual events. Located right along the Turkey River, it’s fun for all ages. Park facilities include a campground, lighted ball diamond, playground, shelters with electrical outlets, bathrooms, showers, and an outdoor stage.

It’s also home to the famous Inwood Ballroom and hosts the Independence Day Fireworks and Celebration (the best in Northeast Iowa), The Turkey River Music Festival, and the Spillville Community Picnic.

With G.F. Heuser spearheading the project, CIASI approved land acquisition and development of Riverside Park. John Vana (a Spillville resident) sold the future Riverside Park property to G.F. Heuser on February 7, 1920 for $580. CIASI organized a children’s benefit picnic to purchase playground equipment. As the years marched on, CIASI created more projects to enhance the usefulness and beauty of Riverside Park. The park is the focal meeting and gathering place for many family and community occasions.

CIASI sold Riverside Park to the City of Spillville for $1 in 2015. Since that time, the park has been jointly maintained and improved by the City of Spillville and CIASI.
